Qld: Keepers fight to save endangered tree kangaroo

BRISBANE, Jan 13 AAP - Two former Australian zookeepers are on the trail of an endangered
tree kangaroo in an effort to save it from extinction.

Jim and Jean Thomas have worked in Sandaun Province in north-western Papua New Guinea
for the past year, tracking the last remaining Scott's tree kangaroos, also known as Tenkile.

The marsupials were discovered only 14 years ago but hunting had brought them to the
brink of extinction and only 100 remained, Ms Thomas said.
